SEARCH FOR THE PAST

The Roberta-Angell Prize was created in memory of Roberta Angell, through a bequest that she left to the Société historique Beaurepaire-Beaconsfield Historical Society. This Prize was awarded for the first time in May 2008.

Since 2008, the Roberta-Angell Prize has been awarded annually by the SHBBHS to reward a project on history. This Prize has been awarded to students or group of students who attended a school in Beaconsfield or who resided in Beaconsfield and to Beaconsfield schools. A Beaconsfield resident category for adults was added in 2011. In 2014, this category was extended to former residents of Beaconsfield.

Each year, the amount of the prizes, the number of prizes awarded and the contest specific rules are voted on by the members of the Board of Directors of the SHBBHS.

Some years, the prizes are awarded following a contest open to the public and especially to the Beaconsfield schools. The winners are then chosen by a selection committee nominated by the Board of Directors of the SHBBHS. The SHBBHS reserves the right not to award all the prizes, depending on the number and quality of the entries. The deadline for submission of all entries is usually in spring of the year of the contest. The date and time of the award ceremony will be posted on our website.

Other years, as in 2008, 2015, and 2016, the prizes are awarded to person(s) and/or school(s) for an outstanding accomplishment related to the history of Beaconsfield.
